Project Guidelines

How Does It Work?
Anyone creating a project on The Investor Den has the ability to add as much or as little details as they like, including pictures and video to help backers get an idea of the project. Documents can be uploaded too.

When creating a project rewards can be set for certain pledge amounts. For example, anyone pledging £20 or over would receive a reward, perhaps a limited edition version of the project they are pledging towards.

You set a goal and a deadline for the project. The funding isn’t all or nothing like other crowdfunding sites, so you don’t need to worry about meeting the goal before the deadline in order to successfully receive funding.

Equity pledges for a project. How does this work then?
Projects of any type are added to The Investor Den in exactly the same way, however if you want to offer equity for your company, simply state this in the description of your project, and make sure you add rewards when creating your project to accurately reflect this.

Can I create a project to get funding for anything?
Yes! Anything at all.

We review projects before they are placed live on the and we’ll let you know if there is a problem that causes us to reject that project so you can always try again.

Should I add rewards to my project?
We would recommend adding some rewards as incentives for people backing your project. Even early access to your project once completed or a free or personalised copy of whatever it is will be sure to encourage more pledges.

How long can the deadline for my project be?
Due to the way our payment processing system works, the maximum duration for a project deadline is 29 days.

When setting your projects deadline the system won’t allow you to exceed this, however it is something that we are continuing to work on and will be able to offer longer deadlines for projects in future.

What should I set my goal at?
Don’t be too modest, but don’t overshoot either.

If setting your goal too low might mean that you’ll be struggling to complete the project with that budget then just set it at a reasonable target.

If you are offering rewards with your project then that is added incentive for project backers.

How do I get noticed?
To get the word out there post your projects URL link to Facebook, Twitter, email your friends with it, or make posters. The more people that see it, the more people are likely to make a pledge.

If you’re not successful the first time you can always reset the deadline and edit your project to re-launch later.

What kind of details should be in my project page?
Be as clear as possible about what you are trying to achieve with your project.

Write as much text as you need too, but don’t go on too much.

We would advise you to always add images and videos to the project, and if it needs further explanation with any documents or technical notes you can add those too.

Creator Questions

Can I cancel my project once it has started receiving pledges?
Yes. Please just contact us at contact@theinvestorden.co.uk if you have any queries about anything at all to do with your project, backers, or the site in general.

What should I do if I can’t complete my project once it has been successfully funded?
The Investor Den is an honest, creative community, and all creators are legally obliged to commit to what they are seeking funding for. If for any reason you are unable to complete your project once funding has been successful we advise you to return any pledges that have been made, and to let your backers know what is going on.

We believe that keeping your supporters up to date with the current status of a project is very important. No one likes to be kept in the dark.

If you have any queries or worries about a project you are having problems with, please email us on contact@theinvestorden.co.uk.

Pledger/Backer Questions

Which projects should I make a pledge to?
We recommend using your own judgement when choosing projects to back. The quality of the project page is usually a good indication of the creator’s genuine intentions to follow through on the project.

How do I make payment once I have pledged?
When pledging to a project initially you are registering your details with the site and the project creator, but because The Investor Den isn’t an ‘all or nothing’ crowdfunding platform, we will contact the backers of a project once the deadline is reached, at which point we will process your payment.

All pledges are processed through Paypal at the end of the project deadline.

Do I get notified if a project is successful/not successful?
Yes, we will email you whether the project is successful in reaching its goal or not.

Do I need to login in order to pledge for a project?
No, you can pledge as a guest, however if you are a regular visitor to the site then it might save you some time to register your details.
